Death Valley Dragline & Ozenza @ The D.A.A.C.
115 S. Division, Grand Rapids, MI 49503,US - $5.00

The Gates of Slumber arose in the Winter of 1998, fruit of the imagination of Guitarist/Vocalist Karl Simon it was started as a backlash against the stoner rock trend prevalent at the time; the mission was to drown those would-be usurpers in their own gore... . That was the begining. Since then the band has been through no less than 5 drummers and 3 bassists, recorded an album, an EP and toured Europe as well as the Eastern U.S. Most recently the band parted ways with Drummer Chuck Brown and now welcomes Chris Gordon back into the band. Chris played on the highly praised and prized 'Sabbath Witch' Demo. The Gates of Slumber have finished mixing an EP due out on Hellride Records this winter; and are writing new songs for a second full length due in the late Summer of 2006.

No one typifies the new breed of Doom Metal like Indiana’s The Gates of Slumber. Metal courses through the veins of these three dudes, they live and breathe the same melancholy magic that fueled their forbearers such as Black Sabbath, Witchfinder General and of course the revered Saint Vitus. The Gates have not rested on their laurels. They recently released Like A Plague Upon The Land on Hellride Music Records, signed with Sweden’s burgeoning I Hate label, as well as completing a successful U.S. and European tour of druken doom debauchery, plying their brand of Heaviness on the metal luvin’ masses.
